Uncertainty is different from carelessness. A buyer can document the object, test the transaction, and still admit that the work exceeds a tidy interpretation.
2. Keep the distinction visible
The pressure to justify a purchase socially can produce borrowed language that obscures the real response.
3. Apply it to the purchase
Living with work is itself a form of inquiry, provided the collector does not turn mystery into a market claim.
