Glazing
The transparent protective layer placed in front of an artwork in a frame, usually glass or acrylic.
Why it matters
A framing quote may distinguish product type, reflection control, ultraviolet filtering, static behavior, weight, and break resistance.
Common misunderstanding
Glazing is not automatically conservation-grade, should not rest directly against the artwork, and cannot eliminate all light-related damage.
