Review a detailed written invoice or purchase agreement before sending payment. It should let you identify the parties, the object, the price, and the promises that affected your decision.
Check for
- Buyer and seller names and contact details
- Artist, title, date, medium, dimensions, and edition information where relevant
- Purchase price, tax, currency, deposit, balance, and payment deadline
- Included frame, accessories, documents, or services
- Condition disclosures or a reference to the agreed condition report
- Return, cancellation, and refund terms
- Packing, shipping, insurance, delivery, and risk-of-loss terms
- Any authenticity, attribution, provenance, or copyright language the seller agreed to
Save the final invoice with the listing, correspondence, payment record, and arrival photographs. If a material promise appears only in a message, ask for it to be added or incorporated into the agreement.
